First, I'd like to explain the concept of the project. I teach a Math Foundations course in which it is a class used to reteach foundational skills such as multiplication facts, fluency skills, addition and subtraction. I wanted my students to make a meaningful board game that uses a skill to be practiced in the game. Therefore, students were to create a math board game. \r\n\r\nFirst, the students used the mini journals to write, plan, and sketch their board game. After that, they used a bigger paper to design a sketch of their board game and color it with the markers. After that, I gave each students their file folder. The file folder is their board game. In the front cover, students write the title of their board game. In the inside as you open it up, they have the layout of their board game, and on the back side is the board game rules. \r\n\r\nEach student worked individually on their project and spectacular results emerged. The double sided tape was very helpful to keep their pages stuck on the file folder as glue can be a bit messy. My students were creative and thankful for the materials they were able to use.
