My goal for this year in math class is for students to practice their note-taking and organization skills. I used to use spiral notebooks, but those would end up torn, pages falling out, or the spinal cord removed. Switching to a composition notebook makes it easier to keep pages intact, and it even comes with a multiplication chart and other math cheats the students can use in class. We used to have only enough balls for players to share, so it takes away their individual practice to hone their skills, plus sharing the soccer balls with the Girl's Soccer team can make it difficult to make sure we can practice all drills. My Boy's Soccer team will be happy to be able to practice using their own ball, practice their dribbling, shooting, juggling, and other skills. We mix it up with different games in which one student is the quizzer and the two other students are the players. The two students compete against one another to answer the multiplication problem. Whoever solves it first and correctly, gets to keep the card. At the end of the game, whoever has the most cards is the winner at their group. The students love the competition, and it motivates them to keep practicing their facts. Thank you for your kind donation. First, I'd like to explain the concept of the project. I teach a Math Foundations course in which it is a class used to reteach foundational skills such as multiplication facts, fluency skills, addition and subtraction. I wanted my students to make a meaningful board game that uses a skill to be practiced in the game. Therefore, students were to create a math board game. \r\n\r\nFirst, the students used the mini journals to write, plan, and sketch their board game. After that, they used a bigger paper to design a sketch of their board game and color it with the markers. After that, I gave each students their file folder. The file folder is their board game. In the front cover, students write the title of their board game. In the inside as you open it up, they have the layout of their board game, and on the back side is the board game rules. \r\n\r\nEach student worked individually on their project and spectacular results emerged. The double sided tape was very helpful to keep their pages stuck on the file folder as glue can be a bit messy. My students were creative and thankful for the materials they were able to use. I sincerely appreciate the donation given to my class. One of the fastest projects I've had go from boxes to use. My students knew what was in the boxes and couldn't wait for the new hot glues to be out and at the tables. They were also so excited about the circular cardboard cutters as they really are a game changer in the classroom. These materials have allowed students to build and make 3D art easier and faster.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for giving to this project! As a teacher at a STEAM school I am always looking for new ways to showcase how art and science connect. This project gave me and my students an opportunity to think like scientists which also making art. \r\n\r\nStudents loved the idea of art experiments and trying to grow crystals on pipe cleaners. The unexpected part of this project was that the first time we did it, it failed! Which may have been better than if it had succeeded because we were able to have great conversations about which variables had made the experiment fail and how to change them to make it successful. \r\n\r\nWe did eventually get it right! And it is still something that we pull out and do if there is some free time. Now that we have a supply of chenelle sticks and the hot water kettles we are able to reproduce this experiment whenever we have time.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting this project and my students.
