As we have discussions about large issues in history, politics, or economics, having students able to write just a few words and ideas help foster more communication and makes discussions more robust and meaningful. This helps them to learn more quickly and it is harder for a student to stay anonymous in discussions. \r\n The number of students this impacts is about 200 per year in economics, World History and Civics. We have recently gone to the block schedule in my district and so it is good to have supplies that allow me to get students up and moving with an almost two hour class period. Sometimes it is simple feedback, games, or silent question and answer periods. Students always act a little incredulous seeing Tinker Toys and play rugs but once they get started on the project, they start having economic discussions on how best to spend money, grow businesses, and allocate their resources. This lesson incorporates several components from the entire year and allows a new way to see economics in action and how it works in real life. It is easily adjusted to smaller or larger classes as well.\r\n The number of students this impacts is about 150 per year in economics. This helps them to learn more quickly and it is harder for a student to stay anonymous in discussions. \r\n The number of students this impacts is about 150 per year in economics and an additional 150 in other classes like World History or Civics. We have recently gone to the block schedule in my district and so it is good to have supplies that allow me to get students up and moving with an almost two hour class period.
