Our school is brand new with a brand new theater program. We emphasize the importance of technical elements like building scenery and props, designing and creating costumes, lighting, sound, etc. This means that while imagination is foremost, equipment is also a major part of what my students need to leave our CTE (Career and Technical Education) program ready to work in the professional world and all that equipment needs a home. Our projects range from building sets and props for full length plays, to building costumes and puppets for children's shows, to designing and executing special effects makeup. By giving our students a range of skills, we are preparing them to adapt, and succeed in a wide range of theatrical areas which ultimately prepare them for life inside and beyond the theater--even while creating a home within our program.
