The wired computer mice have made our digital activities so much easier for students who struggle with trackpads. The solar system rug has become a favorite spot for group discussions, and the sun, earth, and moon model has helped students understand concepts that used to feel abstract. Our physical science posters are now proudly displayed and support daily lessons.\r\n\r\nA standout moment happened during a lesson on moon phases. Students gathered around the new model and took turns demonstrating how shadows create each phase. I watched a student who usually stays quiet take the lead in explaining the new vocabulary to her group. The confidence boost she got from having a hands on tool was amazing to see.\r\n\r\nWhen the kids first walked in and saw the solar system rug unrolled, they gasped and immediately sat down on the planets they felt drawn to. They were excited in a way only sixth graders can be. Many of them couldn't wait to use the new mice and tools during our next science block.","fullyFundedDate":1762976644255,"projectUrl":"project/stem-in-6th-grade/9887305/","projectTitle":"STEM in 6th Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Birnbaum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3380145_orig.png?crop=403,403,x0,y52&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762916086091","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/birnbaum"},{"teacherId":3380145,"projectId":9887595,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our Health and Wellness project. My sixth graders and I have been putting the new resources to use every single day. The tissues, cleaning wipes, and cleaner spray have helped us keep our classroom fresh and healthy during a very busy season. The soccer balls, jump rope, chalk, and whiteboard wipes have added energy and creativity to our learning space.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the boxes being opened, they cheered like it was a holiday morning. They were thrilled to see that someone out there cared enough to support their classroom. They have been grateful and respectful of the supplies, and they talk about how lucky they feel to have them.\r\n\r\nWe use these items each day and my class has been so thankful to learn in an extra clean environment. Students race to see who can clean their desk the best, or fastest and try to make their cleaning wipe the dirtiest. As we enter cold and flu season, kids are making sure to keep germs away from their friends. This will help us have great attendance in school!
