Students used them to model problems, recognize patterns, collaborate with classmates, test ideas, make mistakes, and revise their thinking. These simple materials helped turn everyday lessons into active learning experiences.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these resources helped students see themselves as mathematicians. They learned that math is not always about finding an answer quickly. It is about problem-solving, creativity, perseverance, and being willing to try a new approach.\r\n\r\nYour support helped us create a classroom where students could DO math every day. Because this space serves students across grades K–8, it was important to create an environment that could meet many different needs throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe new rug, pillows, lighting, shelving, and décor have helped transform the room into a space where students can spread out for independent projects, collaborate with others, gather together for lessons and meetings, or simply find a comfortable place to think and work. The vacuum also helps us take care of our shared space and keep it clean and inviting each day.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these items helped create a classroom that feels like it belongs to the students. Just yesterday, I watched a group of my youngest learners working alongside some of our 8th graders.
