The caps go missing or students press too hard and then that marker goes in the trash. Our students love using whiteboards because its different from just the student workbooks. Its like having another type of manipulative in their hand.\r\n\r\nOur teachers were able to immediately dive in and start having their students do more visible thinking. During math teachers are gradually releasing information. As teachers go through the lesson they are able to have students use whiteboards as a check for understanding and visually see any misconceptions students have and address it right then and there. \r\n\r\nWe just completed state testing and during our most recent professional development we discussed chunking word problems into shorter pieces and checking for understanding throughout the smaller chunks. For example, when solving word problems in 3rd grade involving perimeter teachers are checking for understanding by first making sure the students drew the shape, second check is that all students have labeled all sides needed, third they are checking to see if students are adding up all numbers correctly. Teachers are modifying on the spot and making adjustments with ALL students. \r\n\r\nWe are seeing that No one is left behind. I want to express my deepest gratitude for the generous donation of new sports equipment. The arrival of the circular markers, hula hoops, bowling pins, dodgeballs, and the pickle ball set has done much more than just fill our storage bins; it has fundamentally transformed the energy and learning potential within our gymnasium.\r\n\r\nFor several years, our school has made do with equipment that was, frankly , quite dated. When your PE gear is worn out or limited, it inadvertently limits the curriculum. It becomes difficult to inspire movement when the tools provided lackluster. However, the movement these new items were unveiled, the atmosphere shifted instantly. The students were beyond excited-there is a unique kind of joy that comes from seeing bright, high—quality equipment, and that enthusiasm has translated directly into a renewed engagement with physical activity.\r\n\r\nThe impact on student learning on student learning has been immediate and multifaceted. The circular rubber markers, while simple, have become the foundation for organized movement. They've allowed us to teach spatial awareness and 'home base' concept to our younger learners, while serving as agile targets and boundary markers for our older students. \r\n\r\nThe hula hoops and bowling pins have introduced a world of target games and coordination challenges. We've used the bowling pins to teach the mechanics of underhand rolling and accuracy, while the hula hoops have been repurposed for everything from traditional rhythmic movement to 'human tic-tac-toe and obstacle courses. These tools foster critical thinking and teamwork as students collaborate to solve movement puzzles.\r\n\r\nThe timing of this gift couldn't be better. I have a series of upcoming lessons designed around these specific tools. We are moving into a net games unit where the pickleball set will be the star, followed by a target and accuracy unit utilizing the pins and markers. Because of this donation, my students are no longer just getting through PE, they are thriving in it. They discovered new talents , building confidence and most importantly having fun while staying active. Thank you for investing in our students health and happiness.
