As a Math and Science teacher, I know how important reading is outside of its respective subject and the areas that are impacted by low reading abilities. That's one of many reasons why it's so important to engage students in books and find a variety of them! It's my goal that when students walk into my classroom, there's something there for them to read. Since receiving the donation, my students have practically finished the entire Harry Potter series and love to talk to me about it! I can see the impact these books have on them and their curiosity and it warms my heart. They update me on their progress and challenge their reading and writing skills by describing the conflict, character arcs, and predicting what will happen next. For the students that love a challenging book, they have really enjoyed being able to sit down with a longer text. It's helped them be able to motivate themselves and be accountable for their reading. I can't wait to see what they read next! Thank you for your generosity.
