The Chinese gong has also proved to be an unexpected treasure, giving us a meaningful way to recenter the class and mark transitions. Fraction Stax is one of the most effective manipulatives I have ever used for teaching fractions, allowing students to build and compare values with clarity that words alone cannot achieve. Even the pencils, paper, colored pencils, and bright paper have immediately found their way into projects, notes, and creative math activities, lifting the morale of the whole program.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue to put these resources to work in powerful ways. Students will be using their notebooks for weekly math standards assignments, creating graphs, and tracking their progress throughout the year.
