These books will give my students opportunities to practice reading skills while discovering stories and topics that genuinely interest them. From the humor and relatable experiences in *Diary of a Wimpy Kid*, to the nonfiction topics in *National Geographic Readers*, students will be able to build vocabulary, strengthen reading comprehension, identify main ideas and key details, make predictions, and practice summarizing what they have read. The *On Strike* and *Ninja Life Hacks* books will also encourage students to think about problem-solving, responsibility, respect, flexibility, and making positive choices.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is more than simply finishing a book. Students will read independently, read with partners, discuss characters and ideas, make connections to their own lives, and respond to what they read through writing and drawing. The composition notebooks will give students a special place to record their thinking, practice writing, and show what they are learning. I am especially excited to see students who may not always consider themselves \"readers\" discover a book that makes them laugh, teaches them something new, or keeps them asking, \"Can I read the next one?\" Your generosity will help create a classroom where students can find books they love while building the skills and confidence they need to become strong, lifelong readers.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping make reading an exciting part of their school day!","fullyFundedDate":1779370972536,"projectUrl":"project/building-readers-writers-and-kind-clas/10149405/","projectTitle":"Building Readers, Writers, and Kind Classmate","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shapcott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7351985_orig.png?crop=344,344,x7,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1648495992170","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7351985"},{"teacherId":10093872,"projectId":9500929,"letterContent":"Once again, on behalf of the Physical Education Department, we would like to thank you for your donating to our project with purchasing portable basketball goals for our students to use. They love getting the chance to play against each other and with teams and without it, they would be missing out on this opportunity. \r\n\r\nWhen our PE students first saw them, they wanted to use them immediately, but they had to wait until we reached that sports unit.
