The calming room has benefited both the students and adults in the school. The students who are struggling in the classroom often find respite in this room. They walk into the room and seem to immediately de-escalate. They are able to focus, relax, and recuperate in the environment that you have assisted in developing. They often request to return to do their assignments or just take a break. \r\n\r\nThe calming room not only benefits students throughout the school day but teachers also utilize the room at the end of a stressful day to regroup. They turn on the sound machine and relax in non-student chairs and collect themselves after a long day of teaching. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThank you for the blessings that you have bestowed on Tikigaq Elementary School. My 4th grade students were so excited when I told them that our project got fully funded so quickly. My students were surprised to learn that one of our donors, Clay Morad, has family from Point Hope. They asked me so many times if I knew Clay and his family.\r\n\r\nThe students read every day after our Inupiaq bilingual class. The students grab a cushion and their book bins, and find a place to read quietly. As a reward for working hard, the students also have been using the cushions on their chairs for extra comfort. \r\n\r\nThe 4th Grade class is very thankful for the donations and the love that they received from the purchases. Many of the students had voiced the desire for the Baby-Sitters Club series, as well as Hilo and Dog Man. It truly made a difference! They would run everywhere with their ribbons, making loops, snakes, and whatever they could come up with. Not only did they have fun, their running was truly a cardio workout! \r\nThey also enjoyed the balls, bat, and bases. They learned the rules of baseball and they also improved their teamwork. I enjoyed their emotional growth, and they enjoyed a \"new\" activity.
