Traveling across the country to see and experience our Nation's Capitol was truly transformative. US History came alive in D.C. and New York City lights and sights had us all in awe. The trip was extra special with the generous hooded sweatshirts to keep us all together on our travel days. Receiving the hoodies as we prepared for departure got us all a little more excited! We felt more cohesive on our travel days and as the leader, it was comforting to be able to see everyone a little easier. Thanks for allowing us to represent our town proud with our matching blue Girdwood, Alaska wear! The enthusiasm for the project was evident. Students were using their break time to work on their tsunami towers, and parents reported that the tower building was talked about at home to a great extent. I never had to ask students to get to work on the towers and they all completed the project. \r\nStudents were given thirty straws, thirty spaghetti noodles, fifteen popsicle sticks, five paperclips, thirty mini-marshmallows, and fifty cm of tape. They had to build a tower and attach it to a card board base.
