The plastic saved the day! \r\n\r\nThe students learned about the science behind elephant toothpaste including a lesson on how a catalyst impacts a chemical reaction. In their experiment, yeast was the catalyst but hydrogen peroxide, dish liquid, and food coloring were also utilized. \r\n\r\nThe students immensely enjoyed combining the ingredients and observing the chemical reaction that occurred. I immensely enjoyed watching their excitement, but also realizing that the carpet was safe...especially after one group had an explosion that resulted in pink elephant toothpaste everywhere! The plastic on the floor truly protected our lab and we are so grateful!
