I can not begin to tell you how excited my students were to receive their own special pet that sits right on their desks. I actually heard my students \"squeal\" with excitement. With this project, I have been able to use the pets and their \"food\" as an incentive for model behavior, but more importantly, the goal of improving their academics. With each positive behavior and/or attempt to work intently, answer correctly, and actively participate in class, students are awarded \"puff balls\" that can add up to purchasing a new pet or something their pet will enjoy. All of the treats are kept in their very own pet home aka plastic jar. Again, thank you so much.","fullyFundedDate":1758838368603,"projectUrl":"project/pets-in-the-classroom/9701544/","projectTitle":"Pets in the Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Staci Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1041837"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11363","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":60,"numTeachers":6,"percentFrplEligible":50,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":91,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":72.3,"schoolId":11363,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dauphin Island Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dauphin Island Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alabama/mobile-county-public-schools/dauphin-island-elementary-school/11363"}
