When we first decided to start a drumline, we did not have a large number of students interested, but now we have to turn some down. We had several drums that were left over from when we had a band back in 2016 that were old and damaged, but the students played them anyway.\r\n When we received the new drums the excitement and delight expressed by the students were unbelievable. They were especially excited to have shoulder straps to mount the drums on since we did not have any before. We have been invited to perform in several parades and assemblies. \r\n The drumline has allowed the students an opportunity to participate in something other than sports. We were at first approached by students who had behavior issues, but after engaging on the drumline, their behaviors have changed. They know the consequences of not adhereing to the rules and guidelines developed to participate on the drumline. Thanks for helping our students improve their self esteem and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1724083832055,"projectUrl":"project/drumming-for-success/8420123/","projectTitle":"Drumming for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pritchett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6817713"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_18227","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":135,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":98,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":32.6,"schoolId":18227,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Amelia L Johnson High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Amelia L Johnson High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/alabama/marengo-county-school-district/amelia-l-johnson-high-school/18227"}
