We used the tables in our outdoor classroom, and our three tie-dye kits were more than enough for every student and teacher to do a shirt. We even did a few extra shirts for students who may join us during the year. The students loved the process, and the teachers love being able to quickly spot our students when we are on field trips with other classes. \r\n\r\nOnce we dyed our shirts, the students and I looked at several different slogans or designs that could be printed on the shirts, finally settling on \"Field trip, anyone?\" and a picture of the Magic School Bus. One of our parents printed the shirts for us, and they look amazing! We've already worn the shirts to canoe at Oak Mountain State park, to bowling, and to the pumpkin patch. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping build our classroom community!","fullyFundedDate":1755750628536,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-classroom-community/9577870/","projectTitle":"Building a Classroom Community","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Manley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2280525_orig.jpg?crop=2312,2312,x0,y38&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742010494745","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kathrynmanley"},{"teacherId":2280525,"projectId":9174716,"letterContent":"My students were so excited about the math and science materials that arrived in our room the last month of the school year! We unpacked the materials together, and over the next few days, we spent our small group math time exploring the new materials.\r\n\r\n The number comparison game was a big hit--spin the wheel, count out the ducks to put on the two ponds, then figure out which pond has more and which has less. This activity makes the concepts so much more concrete than just comparing numbers or even pictures of objects. \r\n\r\nI am beginning the year with many new students now, and I'm looking forward to using these math and science materials to teach many math concepts that the students have not been introduced to before. Our Scholastic News subscription begins in September, and I've already planned several social studies and science topics based on topics that will be in our new issues.
