It is always a win to be able to introduce or rekindle a love for reading in students. Before I got to this school, music was barely surviving. Hale County is a small, rural school with little funding for the arts. Lots of emphasis is placed on athletics, but the band and music programs in general were about to fizzle out if new blood did not change the direction of the program. With your generosity, I was able to purchase materials for my music appreciate class that have sparked so much joy and excitement for music in my school. Every freshman in the high school takes my class, and because of you, every single student is able to actively participate with a pair of drumsticks in their hands. They have pencils to write with, drumsticks to play with, and places to organize their music. They come into my room smiling every day, excited to learn to drum! Because of this class, I have almost doubled the size of my marching band due to new interest in music. Students that were not involved in anything before are now joining our Hale County Band Family as new musicians. I cannot express how proud I am to be the director here at Hale County. I wouldn't have made it this far without your support.","fullyFundedDate":1750383425233,"projectUrl":"project/music-appreciation-matters/9420640/","projectTitle":"Music Appreciation Matters!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hicks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9643053"},{"teacherId":9602338,"projectId":8726827,"letterContent":"This button maker has been a great tool for my students to take initiative and lead their own project.
