For our bilingual students, the inclusion of authentic Spanish decodable books was especially meaningful—these are often hard to find—and the English versions helped families begin supporting early bilingual reading at home. Many parents shared heartfelt gratitude, explaining that quality books are often out of reach financially, making these gifts even more special.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading comes alive through a mix of purposeful play, environmental print, and theme-based vocabulary that connects directly to our students' world. We emphasize that literacy is all around them—from signs and labels to the stories we read together—and that reading helps them make sense of everyday life. The new books have made it easier for students to see themselves as readers both at school and at home.\r\n\r\nNow that many of our former pre-K students are in kindergarten, we're thrilled to see how strong their reading foundations have become. They are confidently identifying letters, blending sounds, and reading early texts—often outperforming peers who joined our school this year.
