One of the most effective strategies we've implemented this year is the use of math games and manipulatives to build number sense and fluency.\r\n\r\nGames like Shut the Box and What's My Number? have become classroom favorites-- not just for their fun factor, but for the way the reinforce key mathematical concepts. These games encourage students to think critically, make strategic decisions, and practice mental math in a low-pressure, enjoyable setting. What's especially heartening is seeing my struggling learners light up with enthusiasm during game time. The students often feel more confident and motivated when participating in math games. \r\n\r\nWe also incorporate a variety of tools to make math both visual and interactive. Students regularly use Number Wraps to practice skip counting and multiplication patterns, giant dice to explore probability and number combinations, 10 frames to strengthen their understanding of place value and addition, and the 100 chart to build fluency with counting, number patterns, and operations. These materials help students visualize math concepts and make learning more tactile and fun.\r\n\r\nBy combining play-based learning with hands-on materials, we're creating a math environment that is both rigorous and joyful. Students are not only improving their skills--they're developing a genuine love for math.\r\n\r\nI would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the generous donors who made these materials possible. Your support has had a direct and meaningful impact on my students' learning. Because of your contributions, our classroom is filled with excitement, curiosity, and confidence as students engage with math in new and empowering ways. I am truly grateful for your investment in their success.","fullyFundedDate":1754100910489,"projectUrl":"project/making-math-magical/9366984/","projectTitle":"Making Math Magical","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Biggs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2367634"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46650","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":609,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":13,"percentWhite":25,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":47,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":74.6,"schoolId":46650,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wright Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wright Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/okaloosa-county-school-district/wright-elementary-school/46650"}
