I'd make it warm and personal, while really highlighting both the **academic impact and the equity piece** of giving students hands-on experiences they may not otherwise have.\r\n\r\nThe hands-on learning experiences made possible through our donors' support are bringing so much excitement and curiosity into our classroom! Our volcano activity was a wonderful way to make our learning come alive while reinforcing important science vocabulary such as *magma, erupt,* and *lava*. Instead of simply reading about a volcano, students were able to experience the process, talk about what they observed, and connect the vocabulary to something they could actually see and touch. The excitement on their faces as they watched their volcanoes erupt was a wonderful reminder of how powerful hands-on learning can be for first graders.\r\n\r\nThese experiences are especially meaningful because they allow all of our students to take their learning beyond the classroom. Many of my students may not have access to these types of materials at home, so being able to take their volcano home gives them the opportunity to continue exploring, sharing what they learned with their families, and building on that excitement. I know our upcoming rock activities will be just as memorable when we begin our science lessons about rocks and landforms. These are the experiences that children remember—the moments when learning becomes something they can see, touch, create, and experience for themselves. During reading time, students rotate through CVC and phonics games where they practice blending sounds, building words, and matching pictures to vocabulary. One of my favorite moments was watching two students who are still developing English work together to read simple word cards during a phonics game — they were sounding out words, helping each other, and celebrating every correct answer with big smiles. In math, we use the bingo and board games to practice addition and subtraction, and I've noticed students are more willing to explain their thinking out loud because the visuals and hands-on pieces make the problems less intimidating.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They cheered, asked to open the boxes, and couldn't wait to explore the games. Several students said, \"Are these for us?\" and \"Can we play right now?\" For many of them, learning through games feels more like play than work, which lowers anxiety and boosts confidence — especially for my English learners who sometimes feel overwhelmed by traditional worksheets.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building strong foundations in reading and math through small group instruction and partner work using these games. We are currently focusing on improving reading fluency and comprehension, as well as strengthening number sense and problem-solving skills. Each day when students begin to arrive they are able to get breakfast and then choose a STEM bin to build, play and learn. They are all begin to speak more and participate fully. It is exciting to see their language and skills grow.\r\n\r\nWith your donation, I was able to add bristle blocks, fine motor lacing cards, a building set with geometric shapes, and other building blocks with wheels and various connectors. I was also able to add a wikki stick activity where students are able to form numbers and letters with wikki stick. This is a great addition for students who are not yet ready to write with pencil and paper. The children really enjoy having so many different options to create and build with in the classroom. These different resources have really helped to develop the children's fine motor skills to help them be better able to write and cut accurately. I am amazed at the progress the children are making each day. For example, one group can work on reading comprehension while another watches a video about animal adaptations. The TVs also allow me to use live translation for my multi-language learners, so they can see key vocabulary and instructions in both English and their home language. This has created a more inclusive environment where all students can access the material and participate confidently.\r\n\r\nWhat about the new product is most exciting to your students?\r\nMy students are thrilled that the TVs make learning feel more interactive and modern. They love seeing their own work displayed on the screens and enjoy when we use them to explore virtual field trips or play review games. The ability to show multiple lessons at once has also made stations and hands-on activities much smoother — they can follow directions independently without constantly needing reminders. Having translations and visuals on their own screen helps them follow lessons with confidence and understand content alongside their peers. One student who was often hesitant to participate now volunteers to explain what she learned from the translated screen to her group — it's been wonderful to watch her grow more independent and proud of her progress. Even my more reluctant learners are more engaged now that they can clearly see and interact with what's being taught from anywhere in the room. The children absolutely love having the different career outfits to dress up and pretend to be a chef, astronaut, construction worker or police officer. The children have asked for them to be added in with our morning bins so they have more time to create detailed houses and structures. The airport was a great addition to our car center and even included little people.\r\nI love to see the children excited to play together and work cooperatively. They are having so much fun, increasing their vocabulary and learning to share in a safe place. Many of my students who spoke absolutely no English in August can already use a sentence to state where they would like to play now. I thank you for helping us have such highly engaging and popular toys to push them to work together, speak together and play. I truly believe children will always learn best through play.
