I am the kind of \"book person\" who learns by doing—annotating pages, revisiting key ideas, and then immediately trying them out with my students. My study time often looks like a mix of reading, note-taking, and planning lessons side by side, always asking myself, \"How will this help my students become stronger readers tomorrow?\"\r\n\r\nAlthough I am still in the process of completing the EBLI training, I have already begun applying what I've learned. The course has introduced me to clear, brain-based strategies for teaching decoding, fluency, and comprehension in a more explicit and connected way. I've started using these techniques in my small-group interventions, helping students break down words more confidently and understand how sounds and patterns work together. These approaches are especially powerful for my struggling readers, as they provide them with tools that are both structured and empowering.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far has been watching a student begin to self-correct while reading, something they had rarely done before. After applying a strategy we practiced, they paused, reread a word, and said, \"Oh, that didn't sound right,\" before fixing it independently. That moment showed me that they are not just learning to read, they are learning how to think about reading. Your support is already making a difference in how I teach and how my students grow as readers.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my professional learning and in the success of my students. I'm excited to continue this training and deepen the impact in the months ahead.","fullyFundedDate":1746847933148,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-readers-ebli-intervention-tr/9299247/","projectTitle":"Empowering Readers: EBLI Intervention Training for Literacy Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Baldacci","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp515875_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745470440454","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/515875"},{"teacherId":515875,"projectId":9262076,"letterContent":"I am incredibly grateful for your generous support of my DonorsChoose project. While the reading endorsement program through The Evergreen State College was ultimately canceled due to underenrollment, the impact of your donation has still been meaningful and lasting in my classroom. I am the kind of \"book person\" who reads with a highlighter in hand, jotting notes in the margins and revisiting important pages. Many of my evenings are spent at my kitchen table with professional texts spread out, reflecting on how I can immediately apply new learning to better support my students.\r\n\r\nThe books you helped provide deepened my understanding of the science of reading and strengthened my ability to deliver structured, explicit literacy instruction. I have been able to apply strategies related to phonics instruction, reading assessment, and targeted intervention—especially for students who are struggling or who have disabilities such as dyslexia. Because of your support, I feel more confident in diagnosing student needs and designing lessons that are intentional, systematic, and impactful.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite classroom moments happened during a small-group intervention when a student who had previously struggled to decode words was able to successfully read a new passage with confidence. Your support has brought a new wave of excitement and curiosity to our reading time, and we are so grateful.\r\n\r\nWe have a huge passion for books in our classroom. These new texts are helping us dive deeper into essential reading skills like making inferences, identifying themes, comparing characters, and understanding point of view. These texts have also been giving us joy to read. Sometimes we get too serious when it comes to what kinds of books we read and these types have brought the fun in reading again. \r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is a joyful and focused time. Students find cozy spots, open their books, and get lost in stories. Some choose to read with partners, while others enjoy reading independently. The kids have all been bonding over these story's. They often are connected about who has read which one from the series and sharing all the different stories. \r\n\r\nOne student, is completely hooked on the who would win animal adventure series and has been sharing facts with the class.
