These new texts have introduced lessons in comprehension, critical thinking, vocabulary development, and making meaningful connections between literature and students' own lives. Through guided discussions, students practice asking questions, analyzing characters' motivations, identifying themes, and understanding different points of view. These are essential skills that help students become thoughtful readers and lifelong learners.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active and engaging experience. Students read independently, with partners, and as a whole class. They participate in discussions, share their ideas, make predictions, and reflect on what they have learned from each story. The books from this project have created excitement around reading and encouraged students to see themselves as capable readers whose thoughts and opinions matter.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have been especially impacted by these new books. Some reluctant readers who previously struggled to find texts that interested them are now eagerly reaching for books during independent reading time. Other students have discovered characters and experiences that reflect their own lives, helping them feel seen and valued in our classroom community. The diverse range of stories has also encouraged students to learn about experiences different from their own, fostering empathy and understanding among their peers.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most rewarding outcome has been watching students connect with one another through shared reading experiences. The books have sparked meaningful conversations, strengthened classroom relationships, and helped build a community where every student feels included.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their growth. Your support has placed powerful tools for learning directly into their hands, and the impact will continue long after the final page is turned.","fullyFundedDate":1773779153938,"projectUrl":"project/pages-that-connect/10158989/","projectTitle":"Pages That Connect","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nguyen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10293993_orig.png?crop=203,203,x0,y10&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759181498012","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10293993"},{"teacherId":10329671,"projectId":9857997,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to my speech therapy materials project. Because of your support, my students now have access to engaging, hands-on materials that make speech and language therapy more meaningful, functional, and fun. These materials have helped create a therapy space where students can practice their communication goals through games, visuals, and interactive activities rather than only completing repetitive worksheets or drills.\r\n\r\nThe articulation decks, language games, and word-based activities have been especially helpful for targeting skills such as speech sound production, vocabulary, verbal expression, sentence formulation, and social communication. My middle and high school students are more motivated when therapy feels connected to real conversation and real-life situations, and these materials have helped them participate more confidently. The organizational materials have also made it easier to keep therapy sessions structured and individualized so that I can better meet each student's needs.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made a real impact on my students' learning experience. The new Apple iPad and noise-canceling headphones have allowed me to more effectively integrate AAC tools into daily instruction, personalize communication supports, and reduce sensory distractions for students who need it most. With these resources, I am better able to meet students where they are, adapt lessons in real time, and ensure that every learner has a meaningful way to participate, share ideas, and demonstrate understanding. This project has strengthened my confidence in using technology as an inclusive teaching tool and deepened my commitment to equitable access for all students.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came when a student who previously struggled to communicate independently used the iPad to share their thoughts during a class activity for the very first time. With the headphones helping them focus and the AAC app giving them a voice, they proudly participated alongside their peers. The look of confidence and excitement on their face was unforgettable, and it sparked genuine connections with classmates who were eager to listen and respond. Moments like these remind me why inclusive tools matter—they don't just support learning, they build belonging.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, I am excited to continue growing my skills in AAC implementation and inclusive technology. I look forward to exploring more advanced communication apps, expanding student self-advocacy skills, and teaching upcoming lessons that focus on collaboration, expression, and independence.
