"Most people say that it is the intellect which makes a great scientist. They are wrong. It is character." --Albert Einstein. Every day, the 200+ students in my science classes at Orangeview Junior High are encouraged to use their curiosity, to seek out solutions, to assign meaning to their discoveries and to express themselves with clarity. Every day, they amaze me with their accomplishments. But they also face challenges that threaten to hold them back. Most of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Many of them do not have resources at home that promote an academic environment. And as their teacher, I struggle to provide them with lab materials and basic school supplies out of my own pocket. Your support will allow hundreds of young students to engage in scientific inquiry, and perhaps help inspire them to become the great explorers of their own limitless possibility.
