They were instantly drawn to the \"peas in the pod\" cushions and couldn't stop talking about how soft and comforting they were. The emoji cushions were also a big hit for when their emotions were too big. The students loved naming the emotions and even created their own ways to use them for helping calm down as they brushed their hands across both directions of the sequins on those and the lap cover. They loved matching how they were feeling with them. It was wonderful to watch them take ownership of their big feelings and find ways to calm down. \r\n\r\nWe've been using the materials to help students recognize their feelings, learn coping strategies, and regulate their emotions in positive ways. The sequencing activities and lessons that came with the project are helpful as well. They give students structure, direction, and something concrete to focus on when they're feeling anxious, upset, or just need a moment to breathe. The calming tools and weightiness of the items helps with their anxiety and when they get upset. It's a fun distraction for them in helping them to calm down and make good choices. The SEL activity books that came with the project also help students build emotional awareness and coping skills in fun, hands-on ways. Watching them learn to self-regulate with these tools has been so rewarding.\r\n\r\nAs a school counselor, it has meant so much to have these resources available. They've given the students options for supportive tools that help them reset and build confidence in handling their emotions. I'm deeply grateful to you for making this possible. Your generosity and kindness remind my students-and me- that there are people who truly care about their well-being. Thank you so much for providing tools to help them manage their big feelings.","fullyFundedDate":1746444993527,"projectUrl":"project/little-hearts-big-feelings-calming-too/9214665/","projectTitle":"Little Hearts, Big Feelings: Calming Tools for Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mullin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5528918_orig.jpg?crop=493,493,x0,y73&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651690104623","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5528918"},{"teacherId":5413962,"projectId":9193631,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom project!
