The keyboard, piano books, and musician biographies are a welcomed addition to our library. \r\n\r\nThe musician biographies came at just the right time! February is Black History Month and the biographies of Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley went straight to our display for students to check out and read. The keyboard is always in use! It has been incredible. I have several students that have been showing off their skills, wowing us with their impressive talent. I had no idea they could play so well! Most of the time, the headphones are encouraged because the library has so many activities and patrons going on, but some of these students need to show off! Thank you for giving them that boost of confidence as their peers applaud them. I knew there would be many students who using the keyboard, testing out different functions and trying to play what they could. However, I did not realize the impact it would have for our special needs students! They are captivated. Their class attends once a week for a full period where I do a traditional story time and activity. Afterwards, the students have open Makerspace time. One student in particular, zooms straight to the keyboard where they play happily for the remainder of the period. Every time they see me in the hallway, they ask if the keyboard is still there for them. I thank you for that.\r\nBringing music into the library has always been an important goal for me. This is only my second year as a librarian and you were a part of helping that goal come true. Thank you so much for your generosity. Middle school life can be very challenging, but your gift of music has been a blessing. Thank you from the Westbrook Intermediate School library patrons!
