That's why books written by Angie Thomas her novel \"Concrete Rose\" are the kinds of culturally engaging books that will grab my students attention all the time.\r\n\r\nThis has been the second successful year where my students read \"Concrete Rose\" with pretty much the same results. They all loved the characters, the setting, the plot, but most importantly, they saw themselves in the story.\r\n\r\nAt the end of our novel's journey, my students did an amazing job of creating their arts based projects and presented their community social justice themes from the novel.
