Students also have the ability to get up and move around the room to complete more active lessons.\r\n\r\nThe students that I had last year were so excited to see the new tables. They requested we open the boxes just like a youtuber doing an unboxing video. They were excited with every new item that came out of those boxes. The snacks, like fruit gummies and granola bars, were a big hit—especially during state testing. They helped students stay energized and focused through long testing sessions. It was a small but meaningful boost that made a big difference in their stamina and overall mood during a stressful time.\r\n\r\nIn class, the students dove right into using the red and green pens to review and revise their work. This simple tool gave them a visual way to reflect on their learning and correct mistakes, which really improved their understanding. They also used colorful markers to make their notes and assignments more visually engaging. It's amazing how a splash of color can make learning more fun and help students feel proud of their work.\r\n\r\nThe rulers became an unexpected favorite! Students used them to create neat, straight lines for graphic organizers and class charts—they're surprisingly particular about getting everything perfectly aligned. It's been wonderful to see them take ownership of their work with such care and precision. Next, we'll be using these tools as we move into new group projects that involve research, collaboration, and presenting their ideas creatively. Thanks to these resources, they're more engaged and confident than ever.","fullyFundedDate":1742236171630,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-young-scientists-curiosity/9146546/","projectTitle":"Fueling Young Scientists' Curiosity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9890360"},{"teacherId":9900334,"projectId":9067595,"letterContent":"My students and I were thrilled to receive the new resources for our classroom! From the moment I told them the items were on their way, there was a buzz of excitement and anticipation. When the resources finally arrived, students eagerly helped unpack everything, commenting on how the flair pens would make their future assignments and projects \"pop\" and how much easier it would be to keep their iPads charged during class. The addition of practical items like the hand sanitizer and magnetic marker holder also sparked conversation about how these small details help create a more organized and comfortable learning environment.\r\n\r\nWe're currently preparing for an upcoming science project where students will design their own food webs based on ecosystems of their choice. Using their iPads, they'll research specific animals and their roles as producers, consumers, and decomposers. They are especially excited to use the flair pens to color-code and personalize their food webs on small poster boards. Thanks to our donors, students not only feel more engaged and prepared, but they also see that others believe in their learning. The next steps involve diving deeper into ecological relationships and presenting their food webs to the class, fostering both scientific understanding and communication skills.","fullyFundedDate":1737954650667,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-curiosity-gadgets-gear-and-go/9067595/","projectTitle":"Fueling Curiosity: Gadgets, Gear, and Goodies for Science!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Serrato","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9900334"},{"teacherId":8040874,"projectId":9045187,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping me provide necessary items to my science classes. I want to take this opportunity to share how the materials you provided have enriched our classroom and enhanced student learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful additions has been the headphones. Many of my students learn best when they can engage with material in a way that suits their individual needs. The headphones allow students to listen to science videos and interactive lessons without distractions, helping them focus and absorb information more effectively. For example, students who struggle with reading comprehension can now listen to narrated explanations of complex topics, reinforcing their understanding. The ability to pause, rewind, and replay content has been especially beneficial for students who need additional time to grasp challenging concepts. Additionally, they allow students to complete virtual lab simulations, where they can engage with experiments in ways that were previously not possible in our classroom setting.\r\n\r\nAnother essential addition has been the markers. While it may seem like a simple classroom supply, the impact of these markers has been profound. They have allowed my students to express their creativity while engaging in scientific exploration. With these markers, students have been able to create vibrant poster boards, diagrams, and models that help them visualize complex processes. By physically drawing and labeling scientific concepts, students develop a stronger understanding of the material.\r\n\r\nThe enthusiasm for these new materials has been incredible. Many students have shown a newfound interest in science, particularly those who previously struggled to stay engaged. One student who was initially hesitant about participating in group activities has become more engaged through the use of the markers. She enjoys taking on the role of illustrator in group projects and has discovered a talent for visually representing scientific concepts. This has boosted her confidence and made her more eager to contribute to class discussions.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your support. Your kindness has made a real difference in their education, and I have no doubt that the skills and knowledge they are gaining will stay with them for years to come. Thank you for believing in the power of education and for helping to make our classroom a place where learning is engaging and meaningful.","fullyFundedDate":1736752129937,"projectUrl":"project/shh-did-you-hear-what-the-video-said/9043520/","projectTitle":"Shh!! The snacks you donated were necessary for my students to be able to focus on learning. The delicious chips, cookies, and juices were made available for them when they had a rough day, a state test, or had a birthday! \r\n\r\nMy goal for this project was to offer snacks, a welcoming class, and a safe place to be. I know that snacks helped my students have energy and feel excited to be in school. \r\n\r\nYour donations also contributed to a jumbo size timer, my students loved it and one student per class was our time keeper! Finally, we requested a clicker for the classroom, and the students love using it to point at the periodic table or a specific part of the notes on the board. I feel it has increased their confidence and desire to participate/volunteer to explain problems for the class.","fullyFundedDate":1734725834763,"projectUrl":"project/essentials-for-success/8921453/","projectTitle":"Essentials for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Debbie Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8040874_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763507810915","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8040874"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_49719","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":513,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":71.5,"schoolId":49719,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Shores High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Shores High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/coachella-valley-unified-school-district/west-shores-high-school/49719"}
