The kids were so excited to help unpack all the goodies and to see that we had snacks to help them get through the last part of the morning. They don't often have fun, nutritious snacks to choose from and are so thrilled that they are really included now! \r\n\r\nMy students also often stay after school to participate in Unified Sports in which students with and without disabilities play on a sports team together and compete with other schools in Bocce Ball, Bowling and Basketball. After school and before the games they often get hungry as many won't see supper before 6 or 7 pm! One of my co-teachers was kind enough to unbox them due to me having a broken wrist and find homes for everything. A kind student, who requires lots of movement, loved the opportunity to not only assist, but to take the boxes to the recycling bin.\r\n\r\nOnce unboxed, the co-teacher found that I had ordered his favorite kind of mint (I usually but spearmint but also got peppermint since he is new to our room) and he was over the moon that he was remembered and treated and able to share stories of growing up with this treat with our students. It was a delightful \"win\" for a $10 bag of mints.\r\n\r\nIn the meantime, we are able to utilize the snacks as rewards for hard work or simply to fill hungry bellies.
