In a small school like ours, library resources are limited, so adding a wider variety of fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, and biographies has greatly expanded the choices available to our students. Now, more students are able to find books that match their interests, reading levels, and curiosity about the world.\r\n One moment that stood out happened when a student who had struggled to stay engaged during independent reading discovered a graphic novel from the new collection. He quickly became absorbed in the story and proudly shared that he had finished his first book of the year. Moments like this show how powerful it can be when students have access to books that truly connect with them.\r\n Thanks to your generosity, our library continues to grow into a place where students can explore new ideas, build confidence as readers, and discover the joy of reading. Your support helps ensure that even in a small rural school, our students have access to books that inspire learning and imagination.","fullyFundedDate":1764722495030,"projectUrl":"project/inspiring-a-love-for-reading/9609782/","projectTitle":"Inspiring a Love for Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hebert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2439483"},{"teacherId":9760804,"projectId":9779481,"letterContent":"The headphone adapters provided through this donation have made a significant impact on how my kindergarten students use digital learning tools in the classroom. Before receiving the adapters, managing sound during iPad activities was a challenge. Kindergarten classrooms are naturally busy and energetic environments, and when multiple devices were playing audio at the same time, it quickly became overwhelming and distracting. The addition of headphone adapters has transformed that experience.\r\n\r\nWith each student able to connect headphones to their iPad, audio is now contained and individualized. Students can clearly hear directions, songs, phonics lessons, and interactive storybooks without competing background noise. This has made it possible for small groups to work on different digital activities simultaneously. For example, one group can complete a letter-sound lesson while another engages in a math activity, all without disrupting one another. The learning environment is noticeably calmer and more focused.\r\n\r\nThe headphone adapters have also supported student independence. Many early childhood apps include verbal instructions and read-aloud features. With headphones, students can listen carefully and replay directions as needed. Instead of relying on me to constantly restate instructions, they are learning to pause, listen again, and try independently. This builds confidence and strengthens early problem-solving skills. Students are developing the ability to manage their own learning in an age-appropriate way.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the use of headphone adapters promotes privacy and minimizes distractions during assessments or listening comprehension activities. Students can complete tasks quietly and at their own pace without broadcasting answers to the entire class. This helps reduce anxiety for shy learners and allows each child to focus fully on the task at hand.\r\n\r\nOverall, the headphone adapters have greatly improved classroom management, increased student focus, and encouraged independence during technology use. What was once a potential source of distraction has become a structured, purposeful, and effective learning tool. The adapters have allowed me to confidently integrate digital resources into daily instruction while maintaining a calm and productive classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1769700110865,"projectUrl":"project/one-small-adapter-one-giant-leap-for-le/9779481/","projectTitle":"One Small Adapter, One Giant Leap for Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kindred","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9760804_orig.png?crop=1498,1498,x0,y254&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726691447006","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9760804"},{"teacherId":9019702,"projectId":9029134,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing my class with three sets of wonderful books! This literature is engaging for my students and dovetail nicely with our ELA curriculum. Having a range of writing styles written by diverse authors at my fingertips makes planning a snap.\r\nI love these books for the writing quality. These stories provide us with rich opportunities to experience the power of figurative language, explore different genres, and examine different kinds of text features. My students love these books because they are engaging! The kids love the approachable language. Even my students who have difficulty with reading can keep up. The book chapters and overall length are never overwhelming. My students also love the kid protagonists. Novel studies can be such a grind for some kids, but these books have my students begging to do more. They can't wait to find out what happens next! \r\nHaving these books on hand has been so helpful to me as an educator. I can come up with projects that fulfill not only ELA standards, but also Montana's Indian Education for All understandings, with these impactful stories. Thank you so much for providing our school with these fantastic, contemporary, and unique stories. I hope you know how much your contributions can not only spark curiosity in young minds, but also help build understanding. The new books have quickly become favorites in our classroom and school library. Students are diving into them during independent reading, research projects, and even to spark classroom discussions. Recently, during our science unit on habitats, students eagerly pulled nonfiction animal books off the shelves to learn more and share fun facts with the class. The Science Comics series has become especially popular—those books are constantly checked out and passed from student to student.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes of books first arrived, the excitement was contagious. Students crowded around, pointing out titles that matched their interests—dinosaurs, outer space, biographies—and couldn't wait to check them out. One student hugged a book about cats and kittens and said, \"This is the one I've been waiting for!\"\r\n\r\nAs we move into upcoming social studies and STEM units, students will use these books to support hands-on projects and presentations. They'll be practicing research skills, working together to answer big questions, and continuing to grow as confident, curious learners.
