The Learning Resources Erupting Volcano Model has been a game-changer in our geology unit. During a recent classroom project, students designed and conducted experiments to simulate real-world volcanic eruptions. They mixed baking soda and vinegar to create a chemical reaction that mimicked the eruption, and it was amazing to see their faces light up as the \"lava\" flowed out of the volcano.\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were so excited. One student carefully examined the cross-section earth model and asked, \"How do the different layers of the earth interact with each other?\" It was wonderful to see their curiosity and enthusiasm sparked.\r\n\r\nThe new plant grow light and self-watering pots have also been a hit. Our students are using them to investigate the effects of light on plant growth and development. They're collecting data, making observations, and drawing conclusions about the importance of light in plant growth. One student noted, \"I never knew plants could grow so fast with the right amount of light!\"\r\n\r\nAs for next steps, our students are currently designing and implementing a long-term experiment to compare plant growth under different lighting conditions. They're also creating diagrams and models to illustrate their understanding of the earth's structure and geological processes.
