It has truly transformed what could feel repetitive into something interactive and joyful.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the doodle boards also foster collaboration. The students often turn to one another to compare answers, help with spelling, or share a drawing. These small moments build community and strengthen friendships. Your donation helped purchase many fun, interactive and exciting reading games that are keeping students engaged and learning each day. These games, such as CVC dominos, letter dominos, word sharks and ZINGO are all getting used during our game rotation of our reading work time. I love how these hands-on activities are helping students grow their foundational reading knowledge, while also working on skills of teamwork, sharing and problem solving with their peers. Students are also loving the recess games we've added, such as Kanoodle and Stack the Fuzzies! These have been great fun during the snowy, cold months when we've been stuck inside. \r\n\r\nFor our next project, we'd love to collect materials to create class t-shirts. We'd like to create shirts that can be worn on our last class field trip to the zoo and/or shirts that have our school name and mascot on them that students can wear for years to come. Your generosity has truly transformed our classroom's construction zone. Since the materials arrived, we have seen students visit the block area for the first time this school year, build more elaborate structures, and collaborate with one another to bring their ideas to life. The excitement in the room was infectious as the students helped unbox the new resources and find the perfect spots for them in our block center.\r\n\r\nI wanted to share a wonderful example of how these materials are already fueling learning. One student recently decided to build a nest for an eagle. He discovered that by placing two half-circles together, he could create a whole circle for the base. He then used arch blocks to build up the sides and hollow blocks to construct an entire forest for the eagle to live in, even using triangle blocks to represent evergreen trees. This student spent sixty minutes focused on his creation, sharing his process with friends and using complex vocabulary that simply would not have emerged without these specific resources.\r\n\r\nI am so excited to see the many conversations and discoveries that will happen now that we have these tools in our classroom. These desk pets also help with number fluency as they have to count out their pom poms and organize them in groups of 10.
