Our evening will feature a live animal presentation from a local educational organization, along with hands-on STEM and literacy activities designed to deepen students' understanding of rainforest ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation.\r\n\r\nMany of our students have never had the opportunity to attend a live animal program, so this event will be especially meaningful. Whether we're exploring math concepts, diving into reading comprehension, or collaborating on group projects, these tools have made it easier for every student to participate and succeed.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, many of our lessons depended on outdated paper materials that didn't translate well to our digital setup. They are constantly requesting to use them and I have a fun time targeting language with imaginative play. My students have also enjoyed relaxing after a speech session with magnatiles, board games, and coloring. I've also been able to utilize the articulation books and dot markers to target speech, the picture books to target language and social interactions, and the various classroom materials for a variety of things\r\n\r\nMy prize bin has grown x10 and it excites my students to come to speech and work hard to win prizes. One of the most exciting developments is that students are now confidently stepping into leadership roles—one student even took the initiative to lead a portion of the lesson using the document camera. This opportunity gave them a sense of ownership over their learning and encouraged their peers to be more engaged. By projecting student work in real time, we can now review, edit, and discuss it as a class, allowing for instant feedback and deeper understanding.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students the most is the ability to see their work come to life on the big screen. It's not just about showing answers—it's about demonstrating processes, problem-solving methods, and creativity in ways that everyone can follow. Some students who were previously hesitant to participate have become more involved, especially those who are visual learners or who enjoy hands-on technology. One student, in particular, who was usually quiet during discussions, has become a regular volunteer to present her thinking to the class using the document camera. My students have enjoyed looking at and talking about the illustrations, practicing tracking text with their fingers, pretend reading, sounding out words, and recognizing familiar and high-frequency words (and letters!). They get so excited looking through the text when they find the same letters that are in their names. They will say, \"Ms. Denson! Look! It's 'd', just like in my name!
