Your donation has helped my DECA club with after school snacks to keep their stomachs settled so their minds can thrive. \r\n\r\nI have been using the snacks to help out with Wai'anae DECA chapter with our membership meetings that meet once a week and DECA Mock Competitions. Students who attend meetings are able to enjoy a snack, learn about business, entrepreneurship, hospitality and role-play scenarios in a business setting. These students don't go home until 5pm, which leaves a big gap of time from when they eat lunch at 11:19 - 11:49am to 5pm. So when we have our meetings at 2:30p, this allows time for them to fellowship with their friends by enjoying snack while we run our business meetings. \r\n\r\nWe appreciate if you could continually support donorchoose.org with other projects that help with supporting the education of our students. They provide immediate, visual feedback that motivates students to persist through challenging tasks and build self-confidence.\r\n\r\nBulky Calculators: The large keys and clear displays on the bulky calculators reduce visual stress and fine motor challenges, allowing students to focus on understanding mathematical concepts rather than struggling with input. This has made math far more accessible.\r\n\r\nArts and Crafts Activities: These hands-on, multi-sensory activities provide a crucial outlet for learning concepts through kinesthetic and creative exploration. They help solidify abstract ideas and make learning engaging for students who benefit from tactile engagement.\r\n\r\nTargeted Reading Material: The new reading material is carefully selected to be accessible yet engaging, helping students build foundational literacy skills at their own pace without feeling overwhelmed. The Beats earbuds have been especially helpful for students who need focused working time in a busy art room. Even the smaller items, like X-Acto knives, tracing paper, and Dawn dish soap, have become essential parts of their daily creative process, helping them plan, refine, and safely execute their ideas.\r\n\r\nWhat has excited my students the most is the chance to use \"real artist tools\" that make their work feel elevated and authentic. One student who normally stays quiet in class has become our go-to photographer, eagerly volunteering to document projects and experimenting with new camera settings every day. These texts have helped us introduce essential skills such as analyzing social structures, identifying themes of power and resistance, and drawing parallels between fiction and current events. Through class discussions, close reading, and creative projects, students are learning not just to understand literature, but to use it as a lens for examining the systems and inequalities that shape their own lives.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become an active, collaborative experience. On any given day, you'll find students annotating passages, debating moral choices faced by the characters, and making connections between the novels and real-world issues like media influence, class division, and technology's role in society. Students used crackers, gummy candies, and marshmallows to predict which ones would float or sink in a cup of water. When they first saw a table full of snacks instead of textbooks, their eyes lit up with pure joy and excitement.
