Thanks to your support, our middle schoolers have been so excited to read books about kids who look like them with experiences they can connect to! The students have learned a lot about each other, and I've had the opportunity to learn more about my students, their families, and their cultures. It's really built a stronger community. \r\n\r\nSome of our favorites include Mexikid and The Door of No Return. The kids are having rich conversations about identity, heritage, and the history of different cultures. Mona Lisa Vanishes also became a favorite, since the students were so eager to predict the twists! And Two Tribes challenged them to think critically about conflicts and perspectives. Our book club meetings are filled with passionate voices and lively debates as students connect the themes in these books to their own lives.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has not only provided books but has also cultivated a love of reading in students who didn't know there were books about them. Thank you for investing in their education and personal growth and helping us create an environment where learning and growth thrive.\r\n\r\nSincerely,","fullyFundedDate":1733271783275,"projectUrl":"project/equitable-reading-opportunity-with-incre/8895873/","projectTitle":"Equitable Reading Opportunity with Incredible and Diverse Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gravolet","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9693604"},{"teacherId":9683429,"projectId":8668709,"letterContent":"I am incredibly grateful for your generous donation of two color printers to our computer science and STEM program here at our Title 1 school in DeKalb County, Georgia. Your contribution has had an immediate and profound impact on our students' learning experiences, enabling them to bring their creative projects to life in a way that was not possible before.\r\n\r\nThe students have been using Code.org to learn and apply algorithms, creating exciting projects that allow them to practice problem-solving skills and computational thinking. With the new printers, they are now able to print out their projects in vibrant color, which enhances their understanding and excitement for what they're learning. They can physically see the results of their hard work, making abstract concepts much more tangible and engaging.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for our students has been the ability to print colorful, high-quality designs of their projects. Whether it's coding a game, a graphic, or a visual representation of an algorithm, the ability to see their code transform into something real and vivid is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, for projects on past inventions, students have been able to create detailed posters and timelines that visually demonstrate the impact of these inventions on society. The printers have helped them elevate their presentations and share their knowledge in a way that feels professional and impactful.\r\n\r\nParticular students have especially thrived with this new technology. For example, one of our students, who has always been interested in graphic design but lacked the resources at home, has shown a deep passion for creating visuals using the printers. Another student, who initially struggled with coding, found a renewed sense of motivation when they were able to see the colors and images come to life from their code, which encouraged them to persist with their learning. The printers have especially benefited our visual learners, who now have a way to combine their technical knowledge with creative expression.\r\n\r\nYour donation is truly making a difference in the classroom. Thank you for helping us provide these transformative opportunities for our students. We are so excited about the new possibilities that these printers bring to their education.","fullyFundedDate":1727106035726,"projectUrl":"project/print-a-bright-future/8668709/","projectTitle":"Print a Bright Future","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Everett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/highachievers"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48849","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":273,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":56,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":80,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.8,"schoolId":48849,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wadsworth Magnet School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wadsworth Magnet School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/dekalb-county-school-district/wadsworth-magnet-high-achievers/48849"}
