My kids love completing their assignments there, and it has also become the go to spot for extended work time.\r\n\r\nOne moment that truly stands out happened during our independent reading block. A group of students who usually struggle to stay focused settled onto the couch together, opened their books, and immediately fell into deep, engaged reading. It created a calm and collaborative atmosphere that we had not been able to achieve before.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the sofa, their faces lit up because they could not believe that someone they had never met cared enough to give them something that makes learning feel special. They explored it, sat together, and immediately started talking about which lessons they hoped to work on from the comfy spot.\r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on a project that involves choice based work stations, and the sofa has already become an essential part of that routine. It gives students a safe and comfortable place to think, create, and collaborate. Our next steps include expanding their independent learning time and encouraging more small group discussions, and the sofa is already helping make that possible.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting not just our classroom but the joy and confidence of every student who walks into it.","fullyFundedDate":1758801051022,"projectUrl":"project/turning-our-classroom-into-a-home-away-f/9748640/","projectTitle":"Turning Our Classroom Into a Home Away From Home","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Durden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5617511_orig.jpg?crop=1468,1468,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1596759336143","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jamese-durden"},{"teacherId":5617511,"projectId":9596721,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students and I have been able to put our new resources to great use in the classroom.
