The students were so excited to see all the instruments. We set up stations with information about each item and a chance to explore the instrument. Everyone was in awe of getting to visit each station and play instruments that they never knew existed. I heard a group of students talking about which instrument was their favorite. We plan to create small groups where students can research their favorite instrument and teach others what they learned about it. It sparked curiosity and opened the door to a field they previously believed existed only in movies and crime shows. From the moment they explored the fingerprint ink pads, kits, and visual resources, students were captivated and eager to learn.\r\n\r\nAs they examined their own fingerprints, students developed hypotheses, made observations, and asked thoughtful, curiosity-driven questions such as, \"Do you think our toes have prints just like our fingers?\" This level of inquiry demonstrated authentic scientific thinking and excitement for learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make this enriching, hands-on learning experience possible. Our SDC students were excited and curious when they first saw the materials and so many immediately wanted to explore the stickers, plush keychains, and art supplies. They were especially thrilled about having journals to personalize and enjoyed the opportunity to express their creativity. It sparked a lot of excitement and discussion about kindness and the impact of small thoughtful gestures. They have taken so much pride in the kits that they are making. \r\n\r\nThe kits are designed to encourage self-expression, mindfulness, and sharing positivity. One memorable classroom moment was when a student carefully decorated their bag with a beautiful picture of two stick figures holding hands with a big heart with the word kindness inside, for the recipient. It was inspiring to see how engaged and thoughtful students were in creating something meaningful for others.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our students is to complete their Kindness Kits and reflect on the experience as a class. Following this, students will engage in a short writing activity about how acts of kindness can positively affect others and themselves. This project has already made such a positive impact in our classroom and we can't wait for the impact it will make on the students receiving them.","fullyFundedDate":1758636577301,"projectUrl":"project/acts-of-awesome-student-kindness-kit/9718129/","projectTitle":"Acts of Awesome: Student Kindness Kit","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Herrera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9515893_orig.jpg?crop=1814,1814,x695,y1219&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741123539118","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/vhms"},{"teacherId":9515893,"projectId":9135841,"letterContent":"I want to give all of you my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our Movement Matters classroom project. Thanks to your contribution, my students are now benefitting from new stationary bike pedals and a stepper — and they are loving every minute of it!\r\n\r\nThe moment we unveiled the materials, their faces lit up with excitement. It was so touching to witness their enthusiasm and to see how quickly they embraced the new tools. These resources have already made a noticeable difference in our classroom environment, helping students manage their energy and stay engaged in learning.\r\n\r\nWe've integrated the bike pedals and stepper into our daily routine, especially during independent work. Students take turns using the equipment, and it has helped improve focus and stamina, particularly for those who benefit from movement to stay attentive.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're using these tools as part of a wellness-focused learning activity that combines physical activity with goal-setting and reflection. Students will track how movement affects their mood and focus. \r\n\r\nAgain, your kindness has not only brought joy to our classroom but has also enriched our learning in meaningful, lasting ways.
