But -- having the right book to put in the hand of a teenager is the difference between their continued reluctance and their realization that they do, in fact, enjoy reading. \r\n\r\nI often buy books for my classroom with my own money because I know how important it is for students to experience reading. As school budgets shrink, I appreciate your help in buying books. When a book falls apart, I choose to celebrate because that means it's been read by multiple students. Besides needing new titles, teachers also need to replace old favorites.\r\n\r\nWhen a teenager has the chance to enjoy a book, they are giving their brain a chance to practice the kind of thinking that will help them manage their social and emotional health -- as well as think through real life experiences and problems.","fullyFundedDate":1744167075476,"projectUrl":"project/graphic-novels-are-our-favorites/9235226/","projectTitle":"Graphic Novels Are Our Favorites","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Namuth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9298367_orig.jpg?crop=3258,3258,x818,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706982116086","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9298367"},{"teacherId":9642173,"projectId":8898449,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity! Your support has transformed our classroom, bringing a burst of creativity, energy, and collaboration to our learning environment. My students, a vibrant and diverse group of learners, have been eagerly using the new materials you helped provide.\r\n\r\nThe Posca markers have been a true game-changer. Students have been using them to bring their imaginations to life, creating vibrant and detailed artwork that not only allows for creative self-expression but also encourages them to share their stories with one another. \r\n\r\nThe bouncy bands on our chairs have made a noticeable difference for my more energetic learners, giving them a safe way to channel their energy without disrupting their focus. The poly dots have been perfect for organizing movement-based games, ensuring that everyone stays active while practicing teamwork and coordination.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the biggest impact has come from the jump ropes, scooters, and dodgeballs. Our students have been using them in team-building activities, where they are learning to collaborate, support one another, and resolve conflicts positively. Watching them cheer each other on, strategize, and even comfort a classmate who missed a goal has been a reminder of how powerful these tools are for building not just physical skills but also emotional connections.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are planning even more collaborative art projects, creative games, and social-emotional learning activities that will use these materials. Thanks to your generosity, my students are not just learning – they are thriving. They are building confidence, developing essential life skills, and creating a classroom community where everyone feels valued and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for making a lasting difference in our classroom.
