This project lifted that worry from their shoulders, replacing it with comfort, security, and gratitude. As we packed each food bag, students kept saying thank you over and over. We've been incorporating the sand art, glass beads, dream catcher materials, clay tools, Native American symbol press tools, and culturally rich literature into our lessons to help students learn about Native traditions in meaningful ways. One memorable moment happened during a lesson on Native American sand art. After reading and discussing its purpose and symbolism, students used the donated supplies to create their own sand art pieces. Watching them apply what they learned so thoughtfully and proudly through their artwork made the experience truly special.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were filled with curiosity and excitement. They immediately browsed through the books, exploring the illustrations and stories while asking questions about the traditions they saw represented. Many could hardly wait until read-aloud time to hear the stories together. The craft materials sparked just as much enthusiasm. Students eagerly planned their sand art designs, selected bead colors for jewelry, and showed great interest in the dream catcher kits. Their reactions made it clear that these resources inspired them to learn, create, and show respect for the culture we were studying.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these supplies will continue to support our lessons throughout the month. Students are working on a cultural study project where they will read, discuss, and reflect on different Native American traditions. They will also create additional artwork, such as clay pieces using the symbol stamps to demonstrate their learning. Your generosity allows us to explore culture in a hands-on, meaningful, and respectful way, and we are truly grateful for the impact these materials are having on our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1761947214254,"projectUrl":"project/traditions-we-treasure-native-american/9795708/","projectTitle":"Traditions We Treasure: Native American Stories and Art","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4110567_orig.jpg?crop=1360,1360,x1300,y1038&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715065673649","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/m-chino"},{"teacherId":4110567,"projectId":9640762,"letterContent":"The first aid supplies have already made a big difference in our classroom. They then sang the song and were given chocolate crisp candy in the shape fo Rudolph. \r\n\r\nEvery day for the next 12 days we will continue reading a story and either getting a treat to go with it or do a Christmas project to go with it.
