These books are more than just reading material, they are mirrors and windows for our students. They reflect real people, real struggles, and real triumphs, while also encouraging empathy, understanding, and growth. \r\n\r\nWe are currently reading these stories in class and they have sparked meaningful conversations around Social Emotional Learning. Thanks to you, every student now has a composition notebook that they use each and every day. These notebooks have become an essential part of our American History classroom.\r\n\r\nStudents use their notebooks to learn and master American History vocabulary carefully selected by our PLC team. For each word, they complete a Frayer Model in their notebook—defining the term, connecting it to examples, and truly making meaning of the content. These notebooks are not just for writing; they are tools for studying, peer discussions, and daily engagement. Best of all, they serve as a reliable resource for the entire school year.\r\n\r\nMy favorite part is knowing that these vocabulary notebooks will continue to support my students beyond my classroom. They are able to take them with them into high school and use them in future history courses, extending the impact of your generosity far beyond this year.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and in their learning. Combining these with what we previously had provides an abundance of volleyballs to teach large class sizes the necessary skills of the game. Anytime the students see anything new on the rack, that is immediately what they flock toward. They love the brand new condition of the balls. We are just beginning our volleyball unit, but the students have been using the balls already during open gym time to bump back and forth between classmates or in large circles. \r\nNow the students will have fun specifically learning the skills of bumping, setting, and serving with this brand new equipment. The balls are definitely much softer and nice on the arms compared to some of the old rocks we have to use. Then the students will have fun playing some games with the new balls, and we will even have a day dedicated to a fun school wide volleyball tournament.\r\nNone of this could have happened without your kindness and generosity. These texts have opened up wonderful opportunities for students to grow as readers, thinkers, and collaborators.\r\n\r\nThrough our new reading selections, students are learning essential skills such as analyzing characters' motivations, identifying themes, and connecting stories to their own lives and communities. We're also practicing strategies for close reading — looking carefully at an author's word choice, tone, and structure — and building confidence in sharing our interpretations during group discussions.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is now a lively, shared experience. Students read aloud, discuss in small groups, and write thoughtful reflections about what they discover. The new books have created space for deeper conversations and sparked genuine enthusiasm for reading.\r\n\r\nOne student who used to shy away from reading has become one of our most eager participants — she now volunteers to read passages aloud and often recommends books to her classmates. Another student who struggled with comprehension is proud to share insights during discussions because the stories truly resonate with him.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made a lasting impact.
