I am teaching high school sophomores, and my district has cracked way down on cell phone usage. It's been a joy to see kids interact with each other when they finish work early instead of staring at screens. \r\n\r\nThis Friday, I gave students a work day to finish a creative project, and I just set the Kanoodles out and didn't say anything. One of my varsity football players picked one up, and I said, \"Go for it! They're so fun!\" Pretty soon, all the Kanoodles had been taken and kids were shouting their frustrations with the difficulty, and then shouting their celebrations when they got the correct solution.\r\n\r\nI am so happy to have these puzzle games in my classroom, and I know my students are happy too! Again, thank you so much.","fullyFundedDate":1748869785763,"projectUrl":"project/teenagers-like-puzzles-too/9255894/","projectTitle":"Teenagers Like Puzzles, Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Walters","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9315585"},{"teacherId":6859624,"projectId":8798811,"letterContent":"The addition of Throne of Glass to my 12th-grade Mythology, Science Fiction, and Fantasy class has transformed our book group discussions, engaging students in critical thinking, literary analysis, and meaningful connections to mythology and heroism! Through this novel, students have explored archetypal hero journeys, the moral complexities of power, and the influence of mythological traditions in modern storytelling. They have practiced skills such as close reading, thematic analysis, and character development, deepening their understanding of fantasy literature while honing their ability to draw connections between fiction and real-world concepts. \r\n\r\nSeveral students, including those who were previously reluctant readers, have found a new love for literature through Throne of Glass. One student, who had never voluntarily finished a novel before, expressed excitement about picking up the sequel. Another student, fascinated by mythology but new to fantasy, eagerly connected elements of the book to the myths we studied earlier in the year. Seeing students develop confidence in their reading abilities and enthusiasm for storytelling has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this book group. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, this novel has sparked a passion for literature that will stay with these students long after they leave the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1727967614896,"projectUrl":"project/introducing-sarah-j-maas-to-the-high-sc/8798811/","projectTitle":"Introducing Sarah J.
