Students participate in buddy reading, where they take turns reading aloud and discussing what they've learned. We also enjoy whole-group reading, which allows us to model fluency, pause for discussion, and explore vocabulary together. Our reading block is full of collaboration, curiosity, and thoughtful conversations about what we read.\r\n Several students who love learning about real-world topics are especially drawn to the new nonfiction magazines. They're excited to share interesting facts with their classmates. Even some reluctant readers are getting more engaged because the topics connect to their interests.
