Welcome! These fourth grade scholars are 75% second language learners and 25% English only. They need independent skill building literacy practice during workshop time that coincide with reading and writing lessons. My vision of ELA workshop are students engaged and enhancing learning independently while I pull small reading groups to fill in language gaps for all learners. The instructions in the kits are easily understood so that my students will be able to succeed in various activities independently. U.S. Grant Elementary is a large original school in North Long Beach. Our enrollment is about 1,200 and many students are bilingual with English as their second language. The fourth and fifth grade is composed of 35 students. My school site has professionally developed teachers for Common Core in ELA, Math, Science, and Technology.
