My PreK Class absolutely loves them! As soon as we received our caterpillars, the students were completely enthralled. They watched them so closely and once they adhered to the top of the cup, we put them inside the butterfly net home. They couldn't wait until the butterflies hatched. After they hatched, we observed them for a couple of days and compared each step to the life cycle model. The last step was going outside and releasing them. Every student (that wanted to) held one and we watched them fly off to their forever homes. I absolutely love it! The students are now so independent with getting an iPad and putting it back where it belongs. They have learned how to plug them in and charge them by themselves and now the iPads are always fresh and ready to go when they need them!\r\nThe side storage for the headphones has also been wonderful! The headphones don't get tangled anymore and the students can easily access them. This is so helpful for me because I don't have to stop working with a student to get another student and iPad. We have recently started hatching ducks. We are a small farming town and some of the students actually live on farms. The others don't really see the entire process of hatching chicks and ducks unless we do it at school. \r\nThe students earn so much during the process (so much science with the stages of development, math and literacy skills), they learn about patience, compassion, kindness and so many other wonderful characteristic traits. All of the things in this project were items that I use every year for my classroom. The Pete The Cat erasers, pencils and other Pete The Cat themed items I use for welcoming students to school, as birthday gifts, my treasure chest for good behavior, and other incentives. The flash drive has made it so convenient to take my work home to work on lesson plans, report cards, parents notes, etc. The kids love the sand timers, they are a great way for unfocused students to stay focused on their work when they are trying to finish before the sand runs out.
