The moment they put them on, their faces lit up with excitement. They stood a little taller, smiled a little bigger, and truly felt recognized for all of the hard work they put in this year.\r\n\r\nThis special celebration was about more than just dressing up—it was an opportunity for students and their families to reflect on how much growth has happened since the first day of school. Many of my students entered kindergarten learning how to be part of a classroom community, and now they are leaving as confident readers, writers, mathematicians, and friends.\r\n\r\nI am so thankful that your generosity made this meaningful experience possible. You helped create a memorable moment for both students and families as we launched these young learners into the first year of their formal education. The pride, joy, and confidence they felt on graduation day are gifts they will carry with them as they begin their journey into first grade.","fullyFundedDate":1777989378171,"projectUrl":"project/caps-and-gowns-for-our-kindergarten-grad/10113704/","projectTitle":"Caps and Gowns for Our Kindergarten Graduates","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10225436_orig.jpg?crop=613,613,x0,y75&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756233900773","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10225436"},{"teacherId":10225436,"projectId":10037383,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my kindergarten students have been using the Pac-Man fine motor station during center time to strengthen the hand muscles they need for writing, cutting, and other classroom tasks. Students use the tennis ball \"Pac-Man\" tools to pick up and sort small beads, turning skill-building practice into a fun game.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the Pac-Man tools with their googly eyes, they were immediately excited and eager to try them. There were smiles, laughter, and lots of cheering as they challenged themselves to pick up beads and move them from one container to another. Even students who sometimes hesitate with fine motor activities were excited to participate.\r\n\r\nThe containers and trays have helped keep materials organized and accessible, allowing students to stay focused on practicing important skills rather than searching for lost pieces. Throughout the day, they are able to independently access what they need without interrupting instruction, which has made our classroom run more smoothly.\r\n\r\nHaving these materials within reach has made learning more accessible and efficient. It was a meaningful experience that combined listening, creativity, and fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nBefore having the drying racks, a project like this would have quickly turned into a mess, with artwork spread all over the classroom trying to find space to dry. Papers would overlap, and small pieces like buttons could easily fall off or get lost. This time, however, students were able to neatly place their artwork on the drying rack, giving each bear its own safe space to dry without being disturbed.\r\n\r\nWhen students saw their finished artwork carefully organized and protected, they were so proud. They checked on their bears throughout the day, excited to see them drying safely with their buttons still in place. The drying racks have truly transformed how we manage art projects, allowing us to create more freely while keeping our classroom calm, organized, and respectful of student work.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we are excited to continue incorporating more hands-on art projects into our literacy lessons. As they experiment, students quickly notice that some body parts do not match or connect as easily as others, which naturally leads them to problem-solve and try new approaches.\r\n\r\nWhile building, students carefully use spatial reasoning and early STEM skills to figure out how pieces fit together. They also communicate with their peers about their ideas, describing what their creature can do or explaining their design choices. Students proudly share their creations with classmates, which stimulates meaningful conversation and provides valuable opportunities for language development. When the puppets arrived, my students were thrilled. Their faces lit up with curiosity and joy as they eagerly met our Character of the Month for January: Perseverance Horse. \r\n\r\nPerseverance is a big word and a challenging concept for kindergarteners to understand. Through storytelling, role-play, and guided conversations led by Perseverance Horse, students were able to see, hear, and feel what it means to keep trying even when something is hard. The puppet shared simple, relatable stories about not giving up, and students quickly began making connections to their own experiences—learning to write letters, solving puzzles, or trying again after a mistake.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue rotating through our character traits each month, using the puppets to act out real-life classroom scenarios, support social-emotional discussions, and reinforce positive behaviors.
