My new group of students have never known my classroom without this incredible gift. And a gift it has been. Gone are the days of carrying their chair around the room, sitting uncomfortably during center time, and lack of options. They have different choices for each center around the room, and never argue because the seating is abundant. With seating already provided in each area of the room, so much less time is wasted in transitions! We spend more time learning and less time moving from place to place.\r\n\r\nMy neurodiverse learners have particularly benefitted. We have seating choices that cater to sensory each students' preferences and promote self-regulation. The positive changes we've seen—improved focus, increased engagement, and growing confidence—are a direct result of your kindness and commitment to equitable education. I turned my classroom into the ocean. These are the centers they did, and a couple of items were purchased on TPT, whereas most were created! They loved it!\r\n\r\nUnder the Sea/Marine Biologist\r\nSea Animal Research Center (E:LA.3.F.1.4, ELA.3.R.3.2, ELA.3.C.4.1, ELA.3.C.5.1, ELA.3.V..1.1)\r\nRock stars will pick one of eight sea animals and then they will go on their computers to research these animals with links already posted on Canvas. When they have finished researching the animal they may draw the animal by clicking the included how-to-draw video.\r\n\r\nText Features Center (ELA.3.R.2.1, ELA.3.V.1.1, SS.3.G.1.1, SS.3.G.1.2)\r\nRock stars will be given a book with a different page for each kind of text feature. Our DHH pre-kindergarten students were extremely excited at the unveiling of the tricycles and wiggle cars bought through the generous donations of so many supporters. They each ran to get on one of the new rides. At first many had great difficulty peddling and wiggling to move their new rides. Everyday they are very excited and cannot wait for recess time to arrive. As the days progress, they are becoming more confident and are able to not only peddle and wiggle to move their rides but many have increased their coordination and are able to maneuver around cones at rapid speed. \r\nThe other great accomplishment is witnessing our young students interacting with each other on many levels. They cheer each other on as they move around the cones, they wait patiently for their turn and are learning to voice their wants by asking \"Can I have a turn?\" or \"I want the bike please\". But what is most rewarding is when they are asked to share the new equipment and they happily get off and give their rides to their friends. These is a great accomplishment since sharing is not something that comes easy to three and four year old children. It is an incredible sight to see such growth both physically and socially in such young children.","fullyFundedDate":1726671109217,"projectUrl":"project/riding-into-preschool/8794350/","projectTitle":"Riding into Preschool","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rego","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8402087"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45347","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":791,"numTeachers":65,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":20,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":39,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.7,"schoolId":45347,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tropical Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tropical Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/broward-county-public-schools/tropical-elementary-school/45347"}
