The new books you provided didn't just fill our shelves—they opened doors. They've given my students access to stories that challenge them, comfort them, and spark the kind of curiosity that makes reading feel like an adventure rather than an assignment.\r\n\r\nWith these new texts, we've been able to introduce skills that are essential for growing readers:\r\n\r\nClose reading, where students learn to slow down and notice the author's craft.\r\n\r\nCharacter analysis, especially in stories with complex, relatable protagonists.\r\n\r\nTheme exploration, which has led to some of our richest discussions this year.\r\n\r\nVocabulary building, supported by books that stretch students just enough.\r\n\r\nFluency practice, especially with high‑interest titles that students are excited to read aloud.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now looks like joyful focus. You'll see students curled up in corners with graphic novels, partners whisper‑reading to each other, small groups debating a character's choices, and even our most hesitant readers proudly finishing books they never thought they could tackle. The room hums with the quiet energy of kids who feel like readers—because they are.\r\n\r\nSome of the most meaningful moments have come from students who previously struggled to connect with books. One student who rarely chose independent reading time now races to grab a particular series each morning. Another, who once told me \"books just aren't my thing,\" recently asked if she could take a novel home \"just to keep reading.\" These are the kinds of shifts that change a child's relationship with learning.\r\n\r\nYour support made all of this possible. You didn't just give us books—you gave my students confidence, choice, and the chance to see themselves as thinkers and storytellers. Thank you for believing in them and for investing in the power of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1770992638775,"projectUrl":"project/building-readers/10057799/","projectTitle":"Building Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Diederich","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1889299_orig.jpg?crop=1592,1592,x0,y408&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755746838303","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1889299"},{"teacherId":9423688,"projectId":9770469,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding our project, Building Future Innovators With Hands-On STEM & Classroom Tools. Because of your support, my students were able to explore real electronics and circuitry using the tools you provided. As shown in the photos, they were fully engaged—sorting components, connecting jumper wires, testing sensors, and building their own circuits on breadboards. For many of them, this was their first time experiencing true hands-on engineering work, and it immediately sparked curiosity, focus, and excitement in the classroom.\r\nYour generosity transformed our science room into a place where students could think, create, and problem-solve like real innovators. I get a lot more engagement from using the whiteboards instead of just writing in their math workbooks or on paper. I also love the markers because they have erasers on the lid.
