I have been teaching students a bit about building armatures and already have students building alebrijes for the art show in April. They are using plaster cast strips to keep the sculpture secure and the fast drying capability keeps them engaged and less frustrated than regular paper mache does. \r\nI am so grateful to be introducing the chomp saw to my students right after thanksgiving break. Many of them are excited to try out its skilled and precise cardboard cuts and have lots of intricate ideas that they have trouble doing on their own with just scissors. I look forwards to seeing all the amazing sculptures they make with it. \r\nLastly the clay has been such a great material to offer students throughout the year. I typically only offer them clay in the spring, right before the art show and not every child gets to use it. This year I am able to offer it all year around whenever they have small details to add to their works of art. We were able to purchase a beautiful new rug with 30 colorful spaces—one for each of my students. The rug has quickly become the heart of our classroom community. Each day, students gather together for lessons, discussions, and stories, and having their own personal space helps them feel comfortable, focused, and part of the group.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the new flexible seating options have made a big difference. Students love having the freedom to move while they work. It's amazing to see how much more engaged and productive they are when they can choose a spot that helps them do their best thinking.\r\n\r\nEvery day, I see the joy and excitement these new materials bring. Your support helped make our special education classroom was functional and inviting from the start. \r\n\r\nWe use countless visual aids, and scaffolded practice activities for our literacy lessons to support conceptual understanding and individual needs: letter formation guides, high frequency word analysis, resource posters, word/sentence/passage reading practice. The lamination pouches and dry erase pockets allow for those materials to be created and to last for a long time. The books included in this project have helped to create an inclusive environment and tone in our classroom as students learn about what makes us all different and special!\r\n\r\nEvery minute in our group sessions is precious, and the visual timer serves as a fun and engaging way to make sure every minute counts. Students love to challenge themselves to complete activities before the timer stops. It also provides an important visual signal for students who thrive on knowing how much time is left before a transition takes place. The portable monitor and stand have helped immensely not only to display objectives, lessons, and videos, but also to provide an additional screen for students with vision impairments. It also provides an improved display for documents during family meetings.\r\n\r\nAgain, I am so grateful for your contributions to make this project a reality this year. On behalf of our students and myself, I want to thank you for the positive impact you've made on our learning environment. Your contributions are more than just gifts—they are investments in the future of these young learners, and we are so appreciative of your thoughtfulness and commitment.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, we've been able to provide the students with an array of new sensory tools and engaging educational materials that are already transforming our classroom experience. The students have been absolutely thrilled with the new items, and their excitement has been contagious! It's incredible to see how these materials have helped enhance their learning and sparked their creativity in ways we couldn't have imagined before.\r\n\r\nThe sensory items, in particular, have been a game-changer for many of our students. For some, having access to tactile tools has helped them stay focused and engaged, improving their ability to concentrate during lessons. For others, these materials offer a much-needed outlet for self-regulation, helping them manage feelings of anxiety or overwhelm in the classroom. I have seen firsthand how these tools have increased the students' comfort and confidence, allowing them to participate more fully in all aspects of their education.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the sensory items, the new educational materials you provided have been invaluable in broadening our learning opportunities. The hands-on learning kits, interactive games, and visual aids are not only fun but also provide a deeper, more meaningful connection to the material we are covering. Whether it's through building and creating with the STEM sets, exploring new concepts with the colorful manipulatives, or engaging in cooperative activities that encourage teamwork, the students are truly thriving. These resources have sparked an excitement for learning that is evident in every lesson.\r\n\r\nThe difference in our classroom has been profound. It's not just about the materials themselves—it's about the sense of possibility and the message that we, as a classroom, are supported by a larger community of people who believe in the potential of every student. The students feel seen, valued, and empowered by your generosity, and that motivation spills over into their work. Their enthusiasm is palpable, and it's inspiring to watch them dive into their learning with such curiosity and passion.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to continue using these tools as we explore new subjects, tackle new challenges, and grow together as a classroom community. These materials have not only made learning more fun and engaging but have also provided a foundation for each student to develop essential skills that will serve them for years to come.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your incredible generosity. Your support is making a lasting impact, and we are so fortunate to have you as a part of our educational journey. We look forward to continuing to learn and grow with the tools and opportunities you've helped provide.","fullyFundedDate":1728738072612,"projectUrl":"project/reaching-sensory-dreams/8871156/","projectTitle":"Reaching Sensory Dreams","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lederer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8802536_orig.jpg?crop=4479,4480,x0,y149&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723477152507","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8802536"},{"teacherId":9633125,"projectId":8705208,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting our classroom! The resources you provided for developing fine motor skills have had an incredible impact on our youngest learners, especially the 3- and 4-year-olds in our program. \r\nHow we're using the new resources:\r\nThe tools and activities have become an integral part of our daily routines. For example, during center time, the students use tweezers to pick up small objects, manipulate playdough to create shapes, and practice threading beads onto strings. One specific project we've enjoyed is creating art pieces by gluing small paper mosaics—this not only fosters creativity but also helps strengthen their pincer grip and hand-eye coordination. \r\nStudents reactions:\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the children's excitement was pure and contagious! They were immediately drawn to the colorful manipulatives, and some even clapped their hands in delight. One child held up a set of tweezers and proudly said, \"Look, I can do it all by myself!\" These moments of confidence and joy have been heartwarming to witness. \r\nNext steps:\r\nCurrently, we are focusing on activities that integrate fine motor development with early literacy skills. For example, students are practicing letter formation in sand trays and using magnetic letters to build simple words. As we move forward, the resources will continue to support their development, laying a strong foundation for future writing and self-help skills. \r\n\r\nYour contribution has truly enhanced our classroom environment and given our students opportunities to grow in ways that will benefit them for years to come.
