My 4th and 5th graders look forward to playing recorder, but some approach it with some trepidation because those who are in 5th grade know how challenging recorders can be. When 4th grade started learning it, the excitement of the novelty eventually gave way to anxiety because some kids struggled to cover the holes correctly. Their anxiety led to, at worst, refusing to play in front of their peers. \r\n\r\nWhen I could tell they were struggling, I offered them the recorders you helped us acquire. When they started using them, their confidence came back and they felt more secure. They weren't having any trouble covering holes because the recorders themselves helped them overcome that obstacle. \r\n\r\nI remember seeing one of my students struggling on the regular recorder starting to give up. When I replaced his with the new one, his eyes lit up and he realized he could still do it this new way. YOU, dear donor, helped him and many like him feel seen and supported. That could've been a child who felt defeated with making music and instead he and othesr will gain the confidence they need to continue to work on their musicianship. The students were super excited to receive everything! I really like having my students prepared and having the resources I need as well. Everything that was donated has been very useful and gets used daily, from the dry erase materials and STEM resources to the organization carts. We truly appreciate everything that was donated to our classroom!\r\n\r\nMy next steps are to continue trying to get more resources for the rest of the school year. Everything donated will continue to be used daily for projects, organization, and helping us keep our classroom clean, organized, and engaging for students.
