My students were so excited to learn to take a breath and find a calm way to regulate themselves. They know they can ask for a break and use Lego bricks to calm and redirect their feelings. One surprising thing that I learned was they like to have them showcased. So they have a special place in the room that they are able to display them for a set amount of time before the pieces become available to be used again. \r\n\r\nThey are also speaking up and using their voice through play. Games such as Headbanz have them speaking to peers through play. They get excited and their shyness slips away. This build their confidence as well as grows peer relationships. \r\n\r\nI have found Uno Attack to be a great way to make decisions and understand there is no negative consequence. It is acceptable and encouraged to play a 2X card and everyone can laugh and have fun with the choice the student made.
