Girls and boys from second through fifth grade come into my room once a week to make bracelets and design items with perler beads. They love to carefully place the beads, make friends, and have conversations with each other while doing a peaceful activity to start the morning. This club has been so fun to implement and the smiles, friendship, and feeling of belonging it has created has been so amazing to witness. The trays were perfect to keep all of our kinetic sand and playdoh in one place. The trays were also used to hold magnetic letters. This made our daily 5 time so much more engaging and allowed for so many of my learners to be independent. The kids were so thrilled to have their own clipboards and use them for the first week of school! All of these materials made for excited and engaged learners and I am so thankful this project was fulfilled. Smelly markers are always a huge hit in second grade and this group was no different. While working on learning their classmate's names, I could see so many kids smiling and giggling as they tested each of the smelly markers and tried to guess each scent. I know these markers and other writing tools will continue to motivate my students to do their best work and stay focused while learning.
