The students that could not afford to buy their own shoes had shoes. We were able to provide them with costumes and raise money by selling snacks to complete the rest of our needs. The first ever production was put on at Howe Middle School, and the staff, students, and parents could not have been more proud of the kids. I could not be more proud of their accomplishments. They were able to learn, memorize, and perform all the songs, dances, and lines. Only one of the students had ever been on stage before. The students were so thankful and excited when we got the shoes and materials. These small but meaningful resources have made a big difference in our daily classroom experience. My students now use the fidget toys during design challenges to help them focus and manage their energy while brainstorming and building prototypes. The fruit snacks have become a special incentive during our hands-on STEM and design projects—like when students design emergency shelters or create food truck business concepts.\r\n\r\nThese resources have helped create a more positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every student feels supported and ready to learn. Our next step is to keep developing teamwork and problem-solving skills through our current MYP Design unit, where students are applying creativity and empathy to real-world challenges.
